DON’T PUSH THE CLOWNS

Terry Haggerty, Prairie Prince, Ray White & Bobby Vega……..artistically, this quartet of bay area rockers bring a semblance of the glory days of psychedelia yet incorporate the expansion of jazz fusion within their itinerary.  For whatever reasons, after the demise Of Sons Of Champlin, The Tubes and The Mothers Of Invention, these extraordinary Musicians drifted into virtual obscurity.  Terry has always been one of the great Players who languished within the genre without the rewards dictated by his acquired skills.  Today, the efforts of Don’t Push The Clowns seem to be making a conscious effort to blend the sound of their sixties endeavors with that of 2003.  The band drifts from a more melancholy sound to the atypical connotations of what they think is acceptable Rock n’ Roll.

The legacy of yesterday is now rising from the ashes and breathing new life thanks to the stellar performances by the band.  They have rapidly emerged as San Francisco’s most popular and innovative band with a fan base that is inclusive of both those of the Early days and “flower power” to the youthful musical community in and around the bay area.

It has been a long and winding road for some but the dedication to the genre and love of their chosen craft make this band endangered long before common knowledge of it’s formation gets to the booking agents across the land.

Kudos and plaudits to Terry, Prairie, Ray and Bobby for having a vision that would produce songs with meaning, songs that inspire and are capable of enticing all who witness a performance to move their feet.  It’s always been about the music but, often times, the beauty is within the players who have often been ignored for their contributions to a genre that is in dire need of a spark.

Will this band be capable of ushering these icons to the echelons of musical immortality That was so deserved years ago?  The longevity is something that only the band can dictate but…..for as long as it will last, it doesn’t get any better than this……

As always

Peace
